Daisy

So my mom has this cute westie (west highland white terrier) named DAISY.  Too cute!!  We’ve had a discussion about dog food and why it costs her so much money for dog food.  I don’t have a dog so I don’t really know the costs of owning one.  She buys her dog food from the vet and as we all know it’s probably more expensive there than it would be at a pet store or grocery store.  The reason she gets the food there is because of what is in commercial dog food.  She knows that the vet sells her good food.  So I’ve done a little reading and to my surprise have found out that animal parts such as dead carcasses of DOGS, road kill, animals that have died from DISEASE, CANCEROUS tissue and all are in the food.  So food not fit for human consumption are fed to dogs.  Now does that make sense?

Do you have any suggestions for healthy dog food without the big price tag?

Well, I’ve found a solution to the dog food problem… I went into the store to get my favorite shampoo for Daisy, and while I was there I was checking out some of the other products. Daisy has been having problems with her eyes; she has glaucoma. I’ve been giving her drops for it and lately she has been discharging a lot of mucus from her eyes. It hardens and has caused her eye to be sore. Well, I talked to the lady there and she told me that because she is taking the eye drops, her tear ducts are secreting more than usual, and to use one of the products that I brought up to help clean it and that I will need to do it several times a day. Well, that is what I needed to hear. At my vets it was an infection and they were going to give me a perscription ($35.00) before filling it. Sooo, that solved that problem. Then I had an issue about dog food. At the vets it would cost me over $60. and it would last me about 2 months. Okay, that really isn’t too bad, but it was bothering me that everything was costing me so much money, so I again asked this lady at the store about her dog food and what I was getting at the Vets, and she told me the stuff that Daisy was taking was inferior quality, and the vet told me that it was better than the store bought food…she then proceeded to tell me that the food they ONLY sell is holistic; they are a natural care supply store. Well, I was so happy and pleased. I bought a bag and all I need to feed Daisy is 1/2 cup in the morning and again at night. Excellent. It only cost me $18.99. I asked her if they do grooming, Yup, and it was $15. less than where I used to take Daisy; and they were voted top groomers in Oakville, 5 years running. How awesome is that. So I came home happy. I bought 3 things, dog food, shampoo, and eye cleasing solution a total of $41.78. Now that is easy on the pocketbook, and my dog is eating healthier, and eyes being taken care of without perscription.
